On-line Client Web Reports

We try to keep our clients as informed as possible, and the Internet provides a way for us to do this.  We provide reports that give our clients most of the information that they would ever need.  The following list gives a detailed description of each of the reports we make available.

Daily (Unconsolidated)-  Register, Appraisal, Transactions, Today's Gain/Loss, Unrealized Gain/Loss

Daily (Consolidated)-  Performance by Security Gain/Loss, with Bar Chart, Summary, Allocation Pie Chart

Monthly-  Historical Values, Performance Evaluation

Daily (Consolidated)

Performance by Security Gain/Loss- This report consolidates all of your accounts onto one single report.  It allows you to see how any of your securities have performed since the start date.  It shows performance information for both current holdings and sold positions.  The columns are structured as follows:

  • Security-  The name of the security.

  • Beginning Market Value-  The market value of your security at the beginning of the year.

  • Realized Gains-  The gain or loss on sold securities, measured from the start date to the sell date.

  • Unrealized Gains-  The gain or loss on currently held securities, measured from the purchase date or start date (whichever is more recent) to the report end date.

  • Interest/Dividends-  Any interest or dividends that the security has paid out to you during the reporting period.   This also includes accrued interest of fixed income securities.

  • Ann. IRR + Fees-  Annualized Internal Rate of Return (less any fees).  Using the discounted cash flow, the IRR is determined by calculating the interest rate earned while adjusting for contribution and withdrawal transactions.  An "NA" value means the IRR is not able to be calculated due to significant gain or loss activity over a short period of time.

  • Ending Market Value-  The market value of your unsold securities at the end date of the report.

  • Pct. of Assets-  The percent of total assets that are invested in this security.

Summary-  This report displays an allocation pie chart, then shows a report of how your consolidated portfolio is allocated among the various asset classes (e.g. Growth, Income, Cash, etc.).  All securities are first group by "Asset Class", then by "Security Type".  The report displays the following columns:

  • Security Type-  This is a group of all securities that fall into the appropriate Security Type designation (e.g. Common Stock, Top Stock, Growth Mutual Fund, etc.).  The Security Type designation serves as a way to further differentiate the various kinds of investments.

  • Total Cost*-  The total cost of all units or shares of the security.

  • Market Value-  The value of all securities in the given security type.

  • Pct. Assets-  The percent of total assets that are invested in this security type.

  • Cur. Yield-  The annualized interest or dividend yield of all securities in the given security type.

  • Est. Annual Income-  The estimated annual dollar value of all interest and dividends of all securities in the given security type.

Performance by Asset Class-  This report shows a performance by asset class bar chart, then details changes in portfolio value by asset class.  The report includes a consolidated view of all accounts, showing performance on a year to date basis.  The report shows the following rows.

  • Start Date Market Value-  The market value of your assets including accrued interest.

  • Purchases/Contributions-  Any security purchases or cash contributions.

  • Sales/Withdrawals-  Any security sales or cash withdrawals.

  • Transfers In/Out-  Any transfer of assets into or out from our management.

  • Realized/Unrealized Gains-  The gain/loss from securities sold (realized), or the gain/loss from securities still held (unrealized).

  • Interest/Dividend Income-   Income already received from securities owned.

  • Change in Accrued Interest-  Any change from the start date to the end date of accrued interest.

  • End Date Market Value-  The market value of your assets including accrued interest.

The next section of the report shows you the total market gain or loss of each asset class in dollars as well as in percentage form using the Discounted Cash Flow method of calculating the Internal Rate of Return.
